INTERMEDIATE FIRST AID (OFA 2)
WorkSafeBC-approved Intermediate First Aid Training (OFA 2) delivered in Coquitlam and serving students from Surrey, Richmond, and Vancouver. Two-day, 14-hour course covering chest injuries, spinal management, environmental emergencies, and full occupational patient care.
Metro Safety Training delivers WorkSafeBC-approved Intermediate First Aid (OFA 2 / IFA) at our central Coquitlam classroom — easily reached from Surrey, Richmond, Vancouver, Burnaby, and across the Lower Mainland. This 14-hour, two-day program is required in many BC industries including construction, light manufacturing, warehousing, and any workplace where the number of workers or hazard rating moves beyond what a Basic first aid attendant can legally cover under Schedule 3-A of the OHS Regulation. Building on Basic First Aid skills, IFA adds substantially more depth for higher-hazard situations — chest and breathing emergencies, internal bleeding and tourniquet use, spinal and musculoskeletal trauma, environmental injuries, and major burns. Every session is led by a WorkSafeBC-approved instructor and uses continuous evaluation across both days rather than a single end-of-course exam. You'll finish with a 3-year certificate that meets employer and WorkSafeBC compliance audits across British Columbia.

Module 1 — Assessment, Airway & CPR/AED

- Manage internal bleeding and hypovolemic shock
- Care for amputations and preserve amputated parts

Prerequisites: No prerequisites — no prior first aid training is required, and you do not need to hold a BFA certificate before taking IFA. Participants must be able to physically perform CPR, patient repositioning, immobilization, and scenario work. Government-issued photo ID is required on the day of the course.
