Course Overview
The Transportation Endorsement (TE) course provides first aid attendants with the specialized knowledge and practical skills required to safely package, monitor, and transport injured or ill workers to medical facilities when emergency services may be delayed. This endorsement is required by WorkSafeBC when first aid attendants are responsible for patient transport.

Who Should Take This Course?
First aid attendants holding a valid Basic, Intermediate, or Advanced First Aid certificate who are required to transport injured workers Designated workplace first aid attendants in moderate- to high-risk environments Safety officers, supervisors, and emergency response coordinators Workers in construction, industrial, manufacturing, forestry, and remote worksites Anyone required by WorkSafeBC to provide patient transportation as part of their role
What You Will Learn
Safe patient packaging and positioning for transport Spinal motion restriction and patient immobilization techniques Proper use of stretchers, spine boards, and transport equipment Lifting and moving patients safely as a team Transport considerations for conscious and unconscious patients Monitoring patient condition during transport Communication and coordination with emergency medical services Documentation and handover procedures
Certification
Upon successful completion, participants receive a Transportation Endorsement (TE) certificate valid for 3 years, provided they maintain a current WorkSafeBC first aid certificate.
Prerequisites
Valid Basic, Intermediate, or Advanced First Aid certificate (formerly OFA 1, OFA 2, or OFA 3) Government-issued photo ID Physically capable of participating in hands-on lifting and transport scenarios

Is Transportation Endorsement required if I already have first aid? Yes. Transportation Endorsement is required when a first aid attendant is responsible for transporting injured workers to medical facilities. How long is the Transportation Endorsement valid? The TE certificate is valid for 3 years, as long as your underlying first aid certificate remains current. Can I take TE without a first aid certificate? No. A valid WorkSafeBC first aid certificate is required to receive Transportation Endorsement certification.
