Workers designated as Intermediate First Aid Attendants under WorkSafeBC regulations Employees in moderate- to high-risk workplaces such as construction, manufacturing, warehousing, forestry, and industrial environments Supervisors, safety officers, and team leads responsible for workplace emergency response Individuals required to meet WorkSafeBC first aid compliance for staffing and site safety plans Workers seeking advanced first aid knowledge beyond Basic First Aid (OFA 1 / EFA) Anyone pursuing a pathway toward Advanced First Aid (OFA 3) certification
What You Will Learn
Core First Aid Competencies: Advanced CPR Level C for adults, children, and infants Comprehensive airway, breathing, and circulation (ABC) assessment and reassessment Effective use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) Advanced bleeding control, bandaging, and soft tissue injury management Management of airway emergencies involving fluids, obstructions, and respiratory distress Recognition and treatment of medical emergencies including asthma, COPD, diabetes, seizures, and cardiac events Treatment of chest injuries, fractures, and musculoskeletal trauma Patient monitoring, documentation, and preparation for transfer of care Advanced Emergency Response: Management of spinal injuries, head trauma, burns, and crush injuries Prolonged patient care in workplace environments Scene management and coordination with emergency medical services Effective communication and handover to BC Ambulance Service and higher levels of care Compliance & Responsibilities: Duties and legal responsibilities of an Intermediate First Aid Attendant WorkSafeBC-compliant first aid documentation and record keeping
Certification
Participants receive an official certificate upon successful completion. Certification length depends on the course type and regulatory body.
