Forklift Training – Your Top Questions Answered

Forklift certification in British Columbia is typically valid for 3 years. After that, a refresher or re-certification may be required, especially if there’s been a workplace incident or significant time away from operating equipment.

At Metro Safety Training, forklift certification is available for just $198. This includes the full-day program: theory, practical training, evaluation, and certification documents.

The full certification course takes one day to complete—usually from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. This includes both theory and hands-on evaluation.

Register online through our website or call Metro Safety to book a class at our Coquitlam training center, located near Braid SkyTrain. We offer regular weekend and weekday courses.

Forklift training is a structured program that teaches safe forklift operation. It includes theory, regulations, inspection checklists, hands-on driving, and a final skills evaluation to earn your operator ticket.

While most tickets are valid for 3 years, refresher training is recommended when:

  • A workplace incident occurs

  • Equipment or job duties change

  • Operator performance declines

Forklift training is designed to be accessible, even for first-timers. Our instructors guide you step-by-step through everything, from safety rules to hands-on driving.

You can take forklift training at Metro Safety in Coquitlam, serving Surrey, New Westminster, Vancouver, and surrounding areas. If you’re searching for “forklift training near me,” you’re in the right place.

Yes—but don’t worry. If a student doesn’t meet the requirements (such as the 70% pass mark or safe driving expectations), they can rebook and receive support to succeed.

Proper training helps prevent workplace accidents, protects other workers, and ensures legal compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations. Certification also boosts your chances of getting hired in warehouse or construction roles.

Forklift ticket trainees are assessed as having reached a minimum skill level and are individually evaluated using a Forklift in a reasonably challenging course (site specific). If you work in construction, heavyweight machinery probably doesn’t intimidate you—not because you have no fear, but because you know your way around it.

Driving a forklift is no different.

You may be a skilled driver, having driven a plethora of complicated vehicles. When it comes to forklifts, however, you’re required by law to attend a training school before you can get behind the wheel.

At Metro Safety Training, we value your safety, and hold a high regard for professionalism in every line of profession. This is why we offer forklift training in addition to our emergency services.
