CONFINED SPACE SAFETY FOR ENTRANTS & MONITORS IN COQUITLAM
Coquitlam is the home of our confined space program: the detectors, tripod, harnesses and ventilation equipment all live at 914 Sherwood Avenue, so this is where public Entrant and Monitor sittings run and where most Metro Vancouver crews end up getting ticketed. The course is a single five-hour block with a real hands-on section, not a slideshow.

WHAT THIS COURSE COVERS
- Defining and classifying a confined space (Class A, B, C) under the WorkSafeBC OHS Regulation
- Atmospheric hazards, oxygen deficiency and flammable/toxic limits
- Multi-gas detector bump testing, calibration and live readings
- Completing and signing an entry permit, plus lockout/tagout verification
- Forced-air ventilation, retrieval systems and a workable rescue pre-plan
- Entrant, monitor and standby-person duties and where they must not overlap

WHO TAKES IT IN COQUITLAM
Utility and municipal crews working manholes, vaults and chambers, industrial maintenance and mechanical trades, tank and vessel workers, civil contractors in deep excavations, and safety officers signing off entry permits.
Tri-Cities students come mostly from municipal works and utility contractors handling sanitary chambers and pump stations, the industrial and fabrication shops along United Boulevard and Mayfair, mechanical contractors servicing building sumps and tanks, and safety coordinators who sign entry permits and want to understand exactly what they are authorising. Because the room and the equipment are both here, we can add a second Coquitlam sitting on short notice when a project schedule moves — and there is free surface parking for crews arriving in work trucks.
WHERE THE COQUITLAM CLASS RUNS
Our Coquitlam campus at 914 Sherwood Avenue is a full classroom facility with free on-site parking, running public-schedule courses seven days a week. On-site training is also available anywhere in the Tri-Cities for private group bookings.

How quickly can I get a confined space seat in Coquitlam?
Coquitlam carries the deepest confined space schedule we run, and because the equipment is on-site we can often add a sitting when a crew needs one. Live dates for this course appear on this page.
What does the practical portion involve?
Bump testing and calibrating a multi-gas detector, taking readings in the correct order, setting up forced-air ventilation, checking a retrieval system, and completing and signing an entry permit as a crew.
Can we book the Coquitlam room for our crew only?
Yes — private group sittings run at the campus or at your site. Booking the room outright lets us use your own permits and space inventory in the practical section.
