Metro Safety Training's Advanced First Aid Part-Time (AFA / OFA 3) delivers the exact same WorkSafeBC-approved 70-hour curriculum as our full-time cohort — on a part-time evenings-and-weekends schedule built around working attendants across Coquitlam, Surrey, Burnaby, Richmond, and Vancouver. Instead of blocking off 10 consecutive days, the part-time cohort spreads the same 70 hours of advanced first aid training across multiple weeks, typically combining weekday evenings with full Saturday and Sunday sessions. Every module — advanced airway management, oxygen therapy, BVM ventilation, spinal packaging, extended patient care, START triage for multi-casualty incidents — is delivered by the same WorkSafeBC-approved instructors with active field emergency-response experience. The final 14 hours are dedicated to the same formal practical and written examinations. Successful candidates receive the identical WorkSafeBC OFA Level 3 (AFA) certificate, valid for 3 years, mailed by WorkSafeBC in your legal name. This is not a shortened or challenge version of AFA — it is the full program on a schedule that fits real working lives.

Module 1 — Scene Assessment & Patient Evaluation
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
- Apply the Priority Action Approach in complex scenes
- Complete detailed primary and secondary surveys

Module 3 — Trauma, Shock, Bleeding & Transport

Prerequisites: No formal prerequisites, though most AFA candidates hold prior BFA or IFA training given the depth of the 70-hour program. Candidates must be able to physically perform all required skills including CPR, patient packaging and immobilization, spinal management, and extended patient care. Government-issued photo ID is required at the first session. Because the part-time schedule spreads material across multiple weeks, candidates must commit to full attendance at every scheduled evening and weekend session — missed sessions cannot be made up mid-cohort.

Class Schedule Format
Part-time cohorts typically combine weekday evening sessions (roughly 4:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.) with full Saturday and Sunday sessions (roughly 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.), spread across 3–5 weeks. Certification & Renewal
On successful completion you receive a WorkSafeBC-compliant Advanced First Aid (OFA Level 3) certificate valid for 3 years, mailed to your home address by WorkSafeBC in your legal name. Renewal requires retaking the full 70-hour program — full-time or part-time, your choice. Plan 3–6 months in advance.
