    What You Will Learn

    The Intermediate First Aid curriculum goes significantly deeper than basic training, focusing on critical life-saving interventions and patient management. Students will master:

    • Advanced Assessment: Priority Action Approach (PAA), primary and secondary surveys.
    • Trauma Care: Management of flail chest, pneumothorax, and sucking chest wounds.
    • Bleeding Control: Internal bleeding management and the proper application of tourniquets.
    • CPR & AED: Two-person CPR techniques and automated external defibrillator operation.
    • Stabilization: Immobilization of major fractures, dislocations, and spinal injury management.
    • Environmental & Medical: Treating heat/cold emergencies, burns (rule of nines), diabetes, and stroke.

    Who Should Attend?

    This course is designed for workers at sites with 20+ employees or high-hazard ratings as defined by WorkSafeBC Schedule 3-A. It is the ideal choice for attendants from Coquitlam, Surrey, Richmond, and Vancouver looking for professional certification. Upon successful completion, you will receive a WorkSafeBC Intermediate First Aid certificate valid for 3 years.
