What You Will Learn
This course moves beyond basic skills to cover complex occupational patient care. Students will gain hands-on experience in:
- Life-Threatening Emergencies: Tourniquet application, internal bleeding, and shock management.
- Trauma Care: Management of chest injuries (pneumothorax), spinal immobilization, and major fractures.
- Medical Emergencies: Responding to strokes, seizures, and diabetic crises.
- Practical Skills: Two-person CPR and AED operation, wound care, and the WorkSafeBC Priority Action Approach (PAA).
Who Should Attend?
This course is designed for workers designated as first aid attendants under Schedule 3-A of the BC OHS Regulation. Upon successful completion, you will receive a WorkSafeBC Intermediate First Aid certificate, which is valid for three years. There are no prerequisites for this course; however, participants must be physically capable of performing CPR and patient handling.
