About This Course
Professional Intermediate First Aid (OFA 2) Training in Coquitlam
Join Metro Safety Training for our comprehensive Intermediate First Aid (IFA) course, formerly known as OFA Level 2. This WorkSafeBC-approved program is scheduled for April 13 - 14, 2027, at our professional training facility located at Metro Safety Training, 914 Sherwood Ave, Coquitlam, BC V3K 1A6. Training sessions will run from 08:30 AM to 04:30 PM each day.

Course Curriculum & Skills Covered
This 14-hour, two-day program is designed for workplace first aid attendants who require a higher level of competency than Basic First Aid. Throughout the course, students will engage in hands-on training covering:
- Life-Threatening Emergencies: Managing flail chest, pneumothorax, and sucking chest wounds.
- Bleeding Control: Advanced wound care, internal bleeding management, and the proper application of tourniquets.
- Trauma Management: Immobilization of major fractures and dislocations, as well as spinal injury care.
- Circulatory Care: Two-person CPR and AED operation, and managing hypovolemic shock.
- Environmental & Medical: Treating major burns (Rule of Nines), heatstroke, hypothermia, diabetic emergencies, and stroke.

Who Should Attend?
This certification is required by WorkSafeBC for attendants at moderate-to-high hazard workplaces with 20 or more workers, as well as remote industrial sites. It is ideal for workers in construction, forestry, manufacturing, and warehousing in the Coquitlam, Surrey, and Vancouver areas. Upon successful completion, you will receive a WorkSafeBC Intermediate First Aid certificate valid for three years.
