About This Course
WorkSafeBC-Approved Intermediate First Aid (OFA 2) in Coquitlam
Join Metro Safety Training for our Intermediate First Aid (IFA) course, formerly known as OFA Level 2. This comprehensive two-day program is scheduled for April 8-9, 2027, running from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM (Pacific Time) each day. Our training takes place at our professional facility located at 914 Sherwood Ave, Coquitlam, BC V3K 1A6.
Comprehensive Professional Training
This 14-hour course is designed for workplace first aid attendants in moderate-to-high hazard environments. Participants will gain hands-on experience in life-saving techniques, including:
- Priority Action Approach (PAA) and scene assessment
- Advanced wound care, internal bleeding management, and tourniquet application
- Management of respiratory emergencies, including sucking chest wounds and pneumothorax
- Two-person CPR and AED operation
- Immobilization of major fractures and spinal injury management
- Assessment of major burns and environmental emergencies like heatstroke and hypothermia

Certification and Registration
Upon successful completion, students receive a WorkSafeBC Intermediate First Aid certificate, which is valid for three years. Evaluation is continuous throughout the two days, paired with a written exam on the final afternoon.
