What You Will Learn
Building on foundational first aid skills, the IFA curriculum covers high-priority medical and trauma emergencies, including:
- Trauma Management: Chest injuries (pneumothorax), massive bleeding control, and tourniquet application.
- Life Support: Two-person CPR and AED operation for adults.
- Medical Emergencies: Recognizing and treating stroke, seizures, and diabetic emergencies.
- Environmental & Burns: Managing hypothermia, heatstroke, and assessing major burns using the rule of nines.
- Patient Care: Spinal management, immobilization of fractures, and transport decision-making.
Certification Details
Upon successful completion and passing the written exam on the final day, participants will receive a WorkSafeBC Intermediate First Aid certificate. This certification is valid for 3 years. There is no single high-stakes final practical exam; instead, our WorkSafeBC-approved instructors use continuous evaluation across both days to ensure you are confident in your life-saving skills.
