Professional WorkSafeBC Intermediate First Aid (OFA 2) Training
Join Metro Safety Training for our Intermediate First Aid (IFA) course, formerly known as OFA Level 2. This comprehensive two-day program is scheduled for March 20-21, 2027, running from 08:30 AM to 04:30 PM each day. This training is essential for workplace first aid attendants in British Columbia who operate in moderate-to-high hazard environments.
The course will be held at our professional training facility: Metro Safety Training, located at 914 Sherwood Ave, Coquitlam, BC V3K 1A6. What You Will Learn
This 14-hour intensive program goes beyond basic life support to cover complex occupational patient care. Key modules include:
- Trauma Management: Care for chest injuries (pneumothorax), internal bleeding, and tourniquet application.
- Airway & Circulatory Care: Two-person CPR, AED operation, and managing hypovolemic shock.
- Musculoskeletal & Environmental: Immobilization of fractures, ankle spica wraps, and treating heat- or cold-related emergencies.
- Medical Emergencies: Recognizing strokes, seizures, diabetic emergencies, and managing critical incident stress.
Who Should Attend?
This course is designed for individuals designated as first aid attendants at workplaces with 20+ workers or high-hazard ratings, including construction sites, forestry operations, and manufacturing plants. It is also ideal for workers at remote sites located more than 30 minutes from ambulance services. Upon successful completion, participants receive a WorkSafeBC Intermediate First Aid certificate, valid for three years.
