WorkSafeBC Intermediate First Aid (OFA 2) Training in Coquitlam
Join Metro Safety Training for our comprehensive Intermediate First Aid (formerly OFA Level 2) course scheduled for March 11 - 12, 2027. This 14-hour, two-day intensive program is designed for workers in British Columbia who require a higher level of first aid competency for moderate-to-high hazard workplaces, including construction, manufacturing, and forestry.

What You Will Learn
This WorkSafeBC-approved curriculum moves beyond basic skills to provide in-depth training on life-threatening emergencies. Key modules include:
- Trauma Management: Care for chest injuries (pneumothorax), internal bleeding, and tourniquet application.
- Advanced Assessment: Utilizing the Priority Action Approach (PAA) and conducting detailed primary and secondary surveys.
- Medical Emergencies: Recognizing and treating strokes, seizures, diabetic emergencies, and respiratory distress.
- Environmental & Musculoskeletal: Managing hypothermia, heatstroke, major fractures, and dislocations.
- CPR & AED: Mastery of two-person CPR and automated external defibrillator operation.
Who Should Attend?
This certification is essential for designated first aid attendants at workplaces with 20+ workers or those located more than 30 minutes from hospital services. It is a preferred qualification for supervisors and safety coordinators in Surrey, Richmond, Vancouver, and the Tri-Cities area. Upon successful completion, students receive a WorkSafeBC Intermediate First Aid certificate valid for 3 years.
