Join Metro Safety Training for our comprehensive Intermediate First Aid (formerly OFA Level 2) course scheduled for January 28 - 29, 2027. This 14-hour, two-day certification program is essential for workplace first aid attendants in British Columbia, specifically those working in moderate-to-high hazard industries such as construction, manufacturing, and warehousing.
Training will take place at our professional facility located at Metro Safety Training, 914 Sherwood Ave, Coquitlam, BC V3K 1A6. The course runs daily from 08:30 AM to 04:30 PM (PST). What You Will Learn
Under the guidance of WorkSafeBC-approved instructors, students will gain mastery in life-saving techniques, including:
- Trauma Management: Handling chest injuries (pneumothorax), internal bleeding, and tourniquet application.
- Life Support: Two-person CPR and AED operation for adults.
- Medical Emergencies: Recognizing and treating diabetic emergencies, seizures, and strokes.
- Injury Stabilization: Immobilization of major fractures, dislocations, and spinal management.
- Environmental & Burn Care: Treating hypothermia, heatstroke, and assessing major burns using the rule of nines.
Who Should Attend?
This course is designed for individuals designated as first aid attendants at workplaces with 20+ workers, or remote sites located more than 30 minutes from an ambulance. It is ideal for workers from Coquitlam, Surrey, Richmond, and Vancouver looking to meet WorkSafeBC compliance. Upon successful completion, you will receive a WorkSafeBC Intermediate First Aid certificate valid for 3 years.
