WorkSafeBC Intermediate First Aid (OFA 2) Training in Coquitlam
Join Metro Safety Training for our Intermediate First Aid (IFA) course, formerly known as OFA Level 2. This comprehensive 14-hour program is delivered over two days, starting January 19, 2027, at 08:30 AM and concluding January 20, 2027, at 04:30 PM (PST).
Our training facility is located at Metro Safety Training, 914 Sherwood Ave, Coquitlam, BC V3K 1A6. This central location serves students from across the Lower Mainland, including Surrey, Richmond, and Vancouver, with free parking and easy access via Highway 1.
Course Curriculum & Skills
This WorkSafeBC-approved course is designed for attendants at moderate-to-high hazard workplaces. Participants will learn advanced life-saving techniques, including:
- Trauma Management: Critical care for chest injuries, pneumothorax, and internal bleeding.
- Circulatory Emergencies: Mastery of tourniquet application and shock management.
- Patient Assessment: Utilizing the Priority Action Approach (PAA) and secondary surveys.
- Practical Skills: Two-person CPR, AED operation, and musculoskeletal immobilization.
- Environmental & Medical: Managing burns (rule of nines), heatstroke, seizures, and stroke.

Who Should Attend?
This certification is mandatory for designated first aid attendants in industries such as construction, forestry, warehousing, and manufacturing where WorkSafeBC Schedule 3-A requirements apply. It is also essential for remote work sites located more than 30 minutes from ambulance services. Upon successful completion, students receive a WorkSafeBC Intermediate First Aid certificate valid for 3 years.
