What You Will Learn
Participants will gain advanced life-saving skills through a mix of theory and hands-on scenarios. The curriculum includes:
- Airway & Breathing: Management of flail chest, sucking chest wounds, and pneumothorax.
- Circulatory Emergencies: Mastery of tourniquet application, internal bleeding management, and shock treatment.
- Trauma Care: Immobilization of fractures, dislocations, and spinal injury management.
- Medical Emergencies: Responding to strokes, seizures, diabetic emergencies, and major burns using the rule of nines.
- CPR & AED: High-performance two-person CPR and AED operation.
Who Should Attend?
This course is required for designated first aid attendants at moderate-to-high hazard workplaces with 20 or more workers, or remote sites located more than 30 minutes from ambulance services. It is ideal for workers in the Tri-Cities, Surrey, and Vancouver who need to satisfy WorkSafeBC Schedule 3-A requirements.
Certification
Upon successful completion of the continuous evaluation and written exam, students receive a WorkSafeBC Intermediate First Aid certificate. This certification is valid for three years and is recognized throughout British Columbia. Please ensure you bring government-issued photo ID to the session.
