Comprehensive Intermediate First Aid (OFA 2) Training in Coquitlam

This intensive two-day provincial certification program is scheduled for December 1-2, 2026, at the Metro Safety Training campus located at 914 Sherwood Ave, Coquitlam, BC V3K 1A6. Designed for individuals working in high-hazard industries or remote sites, this course ensures you meet the rigorous industrial safety standards required across British Columbia.
Course Schedule & Venue Details
Training sessions run from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM (Local Time) on both days. Attendance for the full 14 hours is mandatory for certification. Our Coquitlam facility is a premier training hub serving students from Surrey, Richmond, and Vancouver, featuring modern classrooms and a supportive learning environment. What You Will Learn
The Intermediate First Aid curriculum goes beyond basic life saving to cover complex medical and trauma emergencies. Under the guidance of expert instructors, students will master:
- Advanced Assessment: Utilizing the Priority Action Approach (PAA) and secondary surveys.
- Trauma Management: Treating flail chest, pneumothorax, and sucking chest wounds.
- Critical Interventions: Application of tourniquets for life-threatening bleeding and managing hypovolemic shock.
- Musculoskeletal Care: Immobilizing major fractures, dislocations, and spinal management.
- Environmental & Medical: Responding to heatstroke, hypothermia, major burns (Rule of Nines), and diabetic emergencies.
- CPR & AED: Two-person professional rescuer CPR and AED operation.
Who Should Attend?
This course is essential for designated first aid attendants at moderate-to-high hazard workplaces (such as construction, forestry, or manufacturing) with 20 or more workers. It is also the required standard for workplaces located more than 30 minutes from a hospital. Whether you are stepping up from a Basic certificate or are new to first aid, this course provides the proficiency needed for compliance with Schedule 3-A of the OHS Regulation.
Certification & Registration
Successful participants will receive a WorkSafeBC Intermediate First Aid certificate, valid for three years. The registration fee is $178.
