    What You Will Learn

    Building on foundational skills, this course provides in-depth training for high-hazard situations. Our WorkSafeBC-approved instructors use hands-on scenarios to cover:

    • Life-Threatening Emergencies: Massive bleeding control using tourniquets, internal bleeding management, and hypovolemic shock.
    • Respiratory & Chest Trauma: Management of flail chest, pneumothorax, and penetrating chest wounds.
    • Advanced Skills: Two-person CPR and AED operation, spinal management, and immobilization of major fractures.
    • Medical & Environmental: Assessment of burns (rule of nines), heatstroke, hypothermia, and diabetic emergencies.

    Who Should Attend?

    This course is designed for designated workplace first aid attendants, supervisors, and workers in industries required by WorkSafeBC Schedule 3-A to have an Intermediate level attendant on-site. It is ideal for those serving Surrey, Richmond, and Vancouver crews who require a higher level of care than Basic First Aid allows.

    Certification

    Successful participants will receive a WorkSafeBC Intermediate First Aid Certificate, valid for three years. Evaluation is continuous throughout the two days, concluding with a written examination on the final afternoon. Government-issued photo ID is mandatory for certification.
