WorkSafeBC Intermediate First Aid (OFA 2) in Coquitlam
Join Metro Safety Training for our comprehensive Intermediate First Aid (IFA) course, formerly known as OFA Level 2. This WorkSafeBC-approved program is essential for first aid attendants working in moderate-to-high hazard workplaces, including construction, manufacturing, and remote industrial sites. Our training facility is located at 914 Sherwood Ave, Coquitlam, BC V3K 1A6.
This 14-hour certification is delivered over two days, starting Monday, November 9, 2026, and concluding Tuesday, November 10, 2026. Classes run daily from 08:30 AM to 04:30 PM (PST). Students from Coquitlam, Surrey, Richmond, and Vancouver choose our center for its central location and experienced instructors.

What You Will Learn
The Intermediate First Aid curriculum goes beyond basic life saving to cover complex trauma and medical emergencies. Key modules include:
- Trauma Management: Assessment of chest injuries (pneumothorax, flail chest), internal bleeding, and tourniquet application.
- Patient Care: Two-person CPR, AED operation, and managing spinal or musculoskeletal injuries.
- Environmental & Medical: Treatment for hypothermia, heat exhaustion, major burns (using the rule of nines), diabetic emergencies, and stroke.
- Workplace Safety: Scene assessment using the Priority Action Approach (PAA) and making critical transport decisions.

Certification Details
Upon successful completion and continuous evaluation over the two-day period, participants will receive a WorkSafeBC Intermediate First Aid certificate. This certification is valid for 3 years and is recognized across British Columbia for workplace compliance under Schedule 3-A of the OHS Regulation.
