    What You Will Learn

    This 14-hour, two-day intensive course covers advanced lifesaving skills and occupational patient care, including:

    • Emergency Response: Priority Action Approach (PAA), primary and secondary surveys, and two-person CPR with AED.
    • Critical Trauma: Management of chest injuries (pneumothorax), massive bleeding control with tourniquets, and amputation care.
    • Medical Emergencies: Recognizing symptoms of stroke, seizures, diabetic emergencies, and shock.
    • Environmental & Trauma: Treatment for major burns, hypothermia, heatstroke, and immobilization of fractures or dislocations.

    Who Should Attend?

    This course is designed for designated first aid attendants at workplaces with 20+ workers or sites located more than 30 minutes from ambulance services. It is a vital upgrade for those moving beyond Basic First Aid responsibilities. Upon successful completion, participants receive a WorkSafeBC Intermediate First Aid certificate, valid for three years.
