What You Will Learn
This WorkSafeBC-approved course is designed for high-hazard workplaces and remote job sites. Unlike Basic First Aid, the Intermediate level provides in-depth training on life-threatening emergencies. Students will master:
- Trauma Management: Treatment for flail chest, pneumothorax, and sucking chest wounds.
- Bleeding Control: Advanced wound care, internal bleeding management, and proper tourniquet application.
- Life Support: Two-person CPR and AED operation for adults.
- Injury Assessment: Spinal management, fracture immobilization (including ankle spica wraps), and burn assessment using the rule of nines.
- Environmental Emergencies: Recognizing and treating heatstroke, hypothermia, and poisonings.
