    What You Will Learn

    Over this intensive two-day, 14-hour program, students will gain the skills necessary to manage major workplace trauma. Key modules include:

    • Trauma Management: Treating sucking chest wounds, pneumothorax, and flail chest.
    • Bleeding Control: Advanced wound care, internal bleeding management, and life-saving tourniquet application.
    • Patient Assessment: Mastering the Priority Action Approach (PAA) and rapid transport decisions.
    • Emergency Care: Two-person CPR with AED, spinal immobilization, and environmental emergency management (heatstroke/hypothermia).
    • Medical Emergencies: Recognizing symptoms of stroke, seizures, and diabetic emergencies.

    Who Should Attend?

    This course is designed for individuals assigned as first aid attendants at workplaces with 20+ workers (hazard dependent) or those at remote sites more than 30 minutes from ambulance services. It is the preferred certification for workers in Coquitlam, Surrey, Richmond, and Vancouver looking to advance their safety credentials. No prior first aid certification is required to enroll.

    Certification Details

    Upon successful completion and continuous evaluation, participants will receive a WorkSafeBC Intermediate First Aid certificate, valid for three years. This certification meets all OHS Regulation Schedule 3-A requirements for workplace attendants in British Columbia.
