    What You Will Learn

    Over two intensive days (14 hours), students will engage in hands-on scenarios and theoretical learning. This course focuses on high-level patient care, including:

    • Trauma Management: Managing chest injuries (pneumothorax), internal bleeding, and tourniquet application.
    • Life Support: Two-person CPR and AED operation for adults.
    • Injury Assessment: Spinal management, fracture immobilization, and the Priority Action Approach.
    • Environmental Hazards: Treating hypothermia, heatstroke, and major burns using the rule of nines.
    • Medical Emergencies: Recognizing symptoms of stroke, seizures, and diabetic emergencies.

    Who Should Attend?

    This course is designed for designated workplace first aid attendants, supervisor-level safety roles, and workers at remote sites located more than 30 minutes from ambulance services. It is specifically tailored for those serving industries in Coquitlam, Surrey, Richmond, and Vancouver who must meet Schedule 3-A WorkSafeBC requirements.

    Certification Details

    Successful participants will receive a WorkSafeBC Intermediate First Aid certificate, valid for three years. Evaluation is continuous throughout the two days, concluding with a written examination on day two. Please ensure you bring a government-issued photo ID for certification processing.
