What You Will Learn
This instructor-led course covers the core skills necessary to recognize and respond to life-threatening emergencies. The curriculum includes:
- The Red Cross Check/Call/Care emergency response sequence.
- CPR & AED: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillator training for adults, children, and infants.
- Choking: How to assist responsive and unresponsive choking victims of all ages.
- Medical Emergencies: Recognizing signs of heart attack, stroke, seizures, and diabetic emergencies.
- Trauma & Wound Care: Bleeding control, wound dressing, and head/spine injury stabilization.
- Environmental Emergencies: Basics of heat- and cold-related illness care.
Who Should Attend?
This course is ideal for coaches, childcare workers, teachers, community volunteers, and parents. It is also suitable for employees in lower-hazard workplaces that do not specifically require a WorkSafeBC Basic First Aid (OFA 1) designation. Students must be at least 16 years of age.
Certification Details
