What is the difference between Emergency and Standard First Aid?

Emergency First Aid (EFA) is a half-day course covering essential life-saving skills like CPR and choking. Standard First Aid (SFA) is a comprehensive two-day course that covers a much wider range of medical emergencies and trauma care. Both certifications are valid for 3 years.

Does this course include CPR for infants and children?

Yes, this course includes CPR Level C, which covers life-saving techniques for adults, children, and infants, as well as Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training.

What should I bring to the training session?

Please bring a government-issued photo ID and wear comfortable clothing. You will be practicing hands-on skills, including performing CPR on the floor, so flexible attire is highly recommended.

How long is my certification valid?

The Canadian Red Cross Emergency First Aid certificate is valid for three years from the date of issue. After three years, you must retake the course to maintain your certification.

What You Will Learn

This 4.5–5 hour session covers the Red Cross "Check, Call, Care" framework and provides hands-on practice in several critical areas:

Airway & Breathing: Choking procedures for adults, children, and infants.
CPR & AED: Comprehensive CPR Level C techniques and the use of Automated External Defibrillators.
Medical Emergencies: Recognizing heart attacks, strokes, and anaphylaxis (including EpiPen use).
Trauma Care: Managing external bleeding, wound dressing, and head/spine injury basics.
