What You’ll Learn

In the Advanced First Aid  Training Program, participants will develop a comprehensive skill set essential for effectively managing workplace emergencies. You’ll learn the Priority Action Approach, enabling you to swiftly assess and respond to emergencies. The course covers evaluation of scenes and initial patient assessments, introduction to spinal management for conscious patients, and techniques for ruling out spinal injuries. You’ll gain expertise in guiding self-ambulatory patients, providing minor wound care, and managing RSI injuries and burns. The training includes handling upper and lower limb fractures and dislocations, applying hard collars, and mastering spinal management, packaging, and transportation of injured workers. Critical interventions and airway management techniques for both responsive and unresponsive patients are key components, along with strategies for managing respiratory failure, severe external and internal bleeding, shock, cardiac arrest, and CPR, including the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). The course also addresses eye injuries, various medical conditions, environmental illnesses, and concludes with a practical and theory review to reinforce learning.

  • Must be physically able to perform all required First Aid tasks.
  • No previous experience necessary.
  • Basic First Aid (formerly OFA 1), Intermediate First Aid Training (formerly OFA 2), or Intermediate First Aid Training (formerly OFA 2) are not prerequisites for enrolling in First Aid Training Advanced (formerly OFA 3).

Cancellation and Refund Policy for Metro Safety Training

  • 1-2 Day Classes: Participants can cancel and receive a refund or transfer to a different course date if Metro Safety Training is notified by email a minimum of 72 hours prior to the course start date. A 15% administration fee will be charged. Please email us at [email protected].

  • 3-5 Day Classes: Participants can cancel and receive a refund or transfer to a different course date if Metro Safety Training is notified by email 5 business days prior to the course start date. A 15% administration fee will be charged. Please email us at [email protected].

  • 6 or More Day Classes: Participants can cancel and receive a refund or transfer to a different course date if Metro Safety Training is notified by email 10 business days prior to the course start date. A 15% administration fee will be charged. Please email us at [email protected].

If a student does not notify Metro Safety Training within the allotted time frame, they are not eligible for a refund and are liable for the entire fee. However, they can transfer to a different course date if done before the course starts, subject to a 50% non-refundable administration fee, up to a maximum of $250. Course transfers are allowed one time only.

Participants who are late may be ineligible to join the class due to certification requirements and the amount of content missed. Late participants are ineligible for a refund and liable for the entire fee.

Students who register but do not notify Metro Safety Training nor attend the course are considered no-shows. No-shows are not eligible for a refund and are liable for the entire fee. Course transfers are not permitted for no-shows.

If a student cannot attend a course due to illness, a doctor’s note may be required for a course date transfer. Metro Safety Training must be notified before the start of the course to allow transferability.

Metro Safety Training reserves the right to cancel a course due to low enrollment or unforeseen instructor emergencies. Participants will be offered the opportunity to reschedule to a different course date at no charge or receive a full refund.

Refunds must be requested before a student starts the course. To receive a refund, forward your electronic receipt to our customer service department at [email protected] with the subject heading: “Online Course Refund.” State the reason for your refund request. Refund requests will not be accepted after the course has started or if more than 30 days after purchase. All group purchase sales are considered final.

If a student is unsuccessful and wishes to retake the course, they may re-register for the same course on a new date at a 50% discounted price, up to a maximum of $500. The discount is valid for up to 6 months after the original course. If unsuccessful a second time, future registrations will be at full price.

WorkSafe BC Retest Policy:

WorkSafe first aid courses allow a one-time retest, which must be completed within 30 days of the original course date end. It is the student’s responsibility to communicate with administrative staff regarding retest fees and dates. If unsuccessful a second time, the student is required to redo the entire course, and the above policy will apply.
